Starting Weight Loss? What to Expect at Your First Visit
By Ageless by Natasha RN | August 24, 2026
I hear it all the time: you want weight loss support, but you’re nervous about the first appointment. That’s normal. The good news is the first visit is straightforward, and I’ll walk you through it clearly, the same way I do in the room. Most of the first appointment is conversation and planning: we’ll go over your health intake, check vitals and measurements, review any labs you already have (or talk about ordering basic labs if needed), and map out next steps for a realistic weight reduction plan. If you’ve been searching “med spa near me” and wondering if you’ll be judged or pressured, that’s not how I work. I’m direct, I listen, and I’m here to help you build something you can actually stick with in Mesa life.
Before your 30-minute consult: 7 things I want you to bring (and think about)
If you want your first Weight Loss visit to feel calm and productive, a little prep helps. I keep the appointment efficient, but I won’t rush you. Bring a photo ID, a list of your current medications and supplements, and any recent labs you have access to. If you’ve tried a weight loss program or weight loss programmes in the past, tell me what worked for a week and what fell apart by week three. That’s usually the most useful information I can get.
Wear comfortable clothes that make it easy to take body measurements. And come ready to talk through your real schedule. If you’re juggling work and kids, or commuting around the East Mesa and McDowell Road corridor, that matters. Your plan has to match your life, not a perfect week that never happens.
Quick intake tip: Write down your usual breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the time you tend to snack. I’m not looking for “perfect.” I’m looking for patterns so I can build a plan that’s realistic and effective.
If you’re coming in from Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, or Apache Junction, let me know your travel time and what days are easiest. I’ll help you set follow-ups that you can keep consistently.
What actually happens in the appointment, step by step (no surprises)
When you arrive, I’ll start with a health intake. That includes your medical history, what you’ve tried before, and what your goals really are. Some people want a specific number on the scale. Others want their clothes to fit comfortably again, get blood sugar under control, or stop thinking about food all day. I take the time to understand your goals and clearly explain what I’m recommending, because that’s what makes the process feel doable.
Next, we’ll take vitals and body measurements. It’s quick and private. Then we talk options. At Ageless by Natasha RN, weight loss services include Semaglutide consultations, peptide therapy, and weekly progress visits. If weight loss injections are a good fit, I’ll explain how they work, what you might feel in the first week, and what to do if nausea or appetite changes show up. If injections are not the right choice for you, I’ll tell you that too. I’m real with what I say and do.
Sometimes we’ll review labs you already have. Other times I’ll recommend basic bloodwork before starting or while adjusting a plan. If I ask for fasting labs, I’ll tell you exactly how many hours to fast and what you can drink. Labs help me make safer decisions, especially if we’re discussing prescription options and peptides.

After your first week: hunger changes, side effects, and how weekly visits keep you on track
Right after your consult, you’ll leave with next steps. That might be scheduling weekly progress visits, moving forward with Semaglutide, adding peptides, or starting with lifestyle targets first. Weekly visits are short (15 minutes), and they include weigh-ins, progress checks, and adjustments. They’re also where I troubleshoot the real-life stuff that can throw you off, like travel, stress eating, or a busy family schedule.
If you do start medication or weight loss injections, it’s common to notice appetite changes early. Some people deal with mild nausea, especially at the beginning or after dose changes. I’ll tell you what’s normal, what’s not, and when to reach out. If you’re out of town, we can still keep communication simple for refills, because consistency matters.
Mesa heat note (this matters more than people think)
In Mesa’s summer heat, dehydration can sneak up on you fast, especially if your appetite is lower. I usually recommend you prioritize hydration, and plan outdoor activity early morning or later evening when the pavement isn’t radiating heat. If you’ve also been thinking about iv hydration, ask me about it, because staying hydrated can make a big difference in how you feel while you’re adjusting to a new plan.
Timeline-wise, weight changes usually take weeks to months, not days. I’ve seen people make significant progress over time with GLP-1 support and steady follow-ups, but my focus is always safe, sustainable change.
East Mesa scheduling tips that make this easier to stick with
Most weight loss programs fail because the plan is fine, but the follow-through doesn’t fit real life. So here’s what I do differently. I keep your check-ins short and consistent, and we build accountability into your schedule. If you’re in the East Mesa and McDowell Road corridor, it’s easy to pair your visit with errands, and plenty of people swing by after a stop near Superstition Springs Center or after getting outside at a nearby park.
If you’re coming from Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, Gilbert, or Apache Junction, I’ll help you plan your weekly visits so they’re realistic. And if you’re the person who does better with direct check-ins, say that. If you prefer fewer touchpoints and a clear plan, say that too. I’m here to support your pace.
One thing I’m big on: no cutting corners. You’ll see a lot of cheap promises online. I’d rather do it the right way and keep you feeling good while the scale changes.

My honest advice if you’re nervous about starting a weight loss program
Bring your questions. All of them. People tell me they feel at ease because I’m willing to answer everything and explain it in plain language. If you’ve tried a dozen things and nothing stuck, you’re not “bad at weight loss.” You just haven’t had the right structure and support.
And yes, I do more than weight loss. Many patients originally find me while searching for botox, Lip Filler, or lip fillers near me, and then realize they want to feel better in their body too. I also get asked about peptides and PDO Thread Lifts. If it’s relevant, we can talk through your goals and timing, but we’ll keep your weight loss plan the main focus first.
