After Your Consultation (In Person): First 48‑Hour Do's & Don'ts
By Ageless by Natasha RN | September 19, 2026

The single most important rule after your consultation is this: keep your plan and your instructions in one place, then don’t change meds, supplements, or skincare on your own before a booked procedure. I hear it all the time after a quick, minimally invasive appointment, people feel good and want to “help” the results by adding something new. In Mesa’s heat, that can backfire fast. My goal is for your next step, whether it’s botox, Lip Filler, PDO Thread Lifts, iv hydration, or weight loss support with peptides, to feel just as “seamless” as the consult itself.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: lock in the plan, then keep things steady
An in-person consultation with me is short on purpose. It’s 15 minutes of focused time to assess your goals and map out the safest, most realistic next steps in injectables, skincare, and wellness therapies. The aftercare piece is simple, but it matters, especially if you’re trying to time a procedure around work, school pick-ups, or commuting along the McDowell Road corridor in East Mesa.
48-hour checklist: Save a photo of your proposed treatment plan and any consent notes, confirm your follow-up or procedure appointment time, and message me right away if anything changes with your health, allergies, or medications.
Here are the big do’s and don’ts I want you to follow in the first two days:
- Do read any written pre-procedure instructions the same day you get them. If something’s unclear, ask me while it’s fresh.
- Do confirm logistics if you’re booking a procedure: arrival time, paperwork, and any fasting requirements if they apply to what you’re scheduled for.
- Don’t start new supplements, topical products, or change prescription meds without checking with me first. This is extra important with blood thinners and high-dose fish oil.
- Do plan ahead for comfort. If we’re doing something that may leave you tender or swollen, I’ll tell you what to bring and what to skip.
And because I’m in Mesa, I’m going to say the obvious out loud: hydrate. Hot, dry days and monsoon humidity swings both make people feel run down, and I’d rather you show up feeling steady than “pushing through.”
The first week: protect your skin and don’t create extra irritation
A lot of people come to me because they want natural-looking results. One client described loving that they still had full facial movement, but fine lines looked dramatically reduced and friends simply said they looked “refreshed.” That kind of outcome starts with good planning, then it’s protected by not stirring things up afterward.
In the week after your consult, your job is to keep your baseline calm so your scheduled service, like botox or Lip Filler, has the best chance to do exactly what we planned.
- Keep sun and heat exposure reasonable. Mesa summer heat is no joke, and too much sun can leave you inflamed and sensitive right when you don’t want to be.
- Don’t pick at dry patches, scabs, or “rough spots.” If something looks off, I want you to message me instead of trying to fix it in the mirror.
- Skip experimenting with new actives. Strong exfoliants and brand-new products are a common reason people get redness right before injectables.
- If you’re scheduling around monsoon season, plan recovery days away from peak heat when you can. It’s easier on your body and your skin.
If your consultation included weight loss options, we’ll also stay consistent with your routine. No last-minute “detox, ” no new supplements, no sudden changes that make it hard to tell what’s actually working.
Skincare, supplements, and meds: the simple rule that saves you headaches
If you take one thing from this post, take this: don’t add new variables right after your consultation. People mean well, they’ll grab a new serum, bump up supplements, or start something they saw on social media. Then they’re not sure what caused a reaction or why their skin suddenly feels “angry.”
What I usually recommend instead
Stick with gentle cleansing, basic moisturizing, and daily sunscreen. If you’re prepping for injectables, calm and hydrated skin is your friend. If you’re prepping for wellness services, consistent sleep and hydration tend to make everything easier.
Quick reminder: If you’re considering blood thinners, high-dose fish oil, or any new supplement before a procedure, let me know first. I’ll tell you what’s appropriate for your plan.
And yes, I get it. When you’re searching “med spa near me” or “lip fillers near me, ” you want quick answers. I’m happy to be the place you can ask the simple questions without feeling brushed off.
Same-day treatment, rides home, and booking timing in Mesa
People ask about doing treatment the same day as their in-person consult. Sometimes it’s possible, but it depends on what you’re doing and whether we have everything we need to do it safely. If you want that option, tell me up front so I can guide you on what to prepare and what questions to ask.
If a procedure is scheduled, ask me about ride-home expectations. Many appointments are perfectly fine to drive yourself, but if we’re planning something that could make you feel lightheaded, sore, or swollen, I’d rather you arrange a ride and be comfortable.
Timing matters in Mesa, too. If you’re hoping to recover without fighting peak summer heat, earlier scheduling often feels better. I also keep flexibility in mind for families and commuters along the McDowell Road corridor, plus there’s easy parking in East Mesa so you’re not circling the block stressed out before you even walk in.
If you want to read more about why a strong consult leads to better outcomes, I’d start with why an in-person consultation leads to better results.
When to reach out to me (and what’s worth a quick message)
If something changes, I want to know. A new medication, a sudden illness, signs of an allergy, or even a new skincare reaction can change what I recommend next. Many of my regulars say they come back because they feel listened to, informed, and comfortable the whole time. I take that seriously.
“She took the time to really listen to my concerns, explained everything clearly, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time.”
one of our regulars
If you’re not sure what’s “normal, ” message me. I’d rather answer a quick question than have you sit at home stressed. Follow-ups and appointments are available for people coming in from Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, and Apache Junction.
